As part of a study abroad trip designed to introduce students to Rwanda's unique approach to digitalization, we had the privilege of hosting a team from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
The team, consisting of international graduate students and faculty, visited Rwanda as part of their course on "Digital Transformation and Resilience".
A Wonderful Collaboration
This collaboration was a wonderful opportunity to explore the significant role digitalization plays in Rwanda’s development strategy. Rwanda, often recognized as one of Africa’s most ambitious countries in terms of technological advancement, has embraced digital transformation in ways that are reshaping the economy and society.
A Platform for Insight and Exchange
During their visit, the group engaged with SheCanCode trainees, an inspiring initiative aimed at empowering young women in Rwanda through digital skills and technology. This interaction sparked meaningful exchanges, where ideas and insights were shared about Rwanda's ongoing efforts in advancing digital technology, creating an inclusive tech ecosystem, and the role of education in driving resilience and growth.
It was inspiring to see how the participants from the Middlebury Institute and SheCanCode trainees connected on a deep level, learning from each other and discussing the broader implications of digital transformation on sustainable development.
The partnership between SheCanCode and the Middlebury Institute further emphasizes the importance of cross-cultural learning and global collaboration. It’s through these connections that we are able to harness diverse perspectives and share innovative solutions to common challenges.
Rwanda's Digital Future
The discussions not only highlighted Rwanda’s current achievements in the tech space but also shed light on future aspirations, such as enhancing connectivity, fostering digital innovation, and ensuring technology's role in promoting social and economic equity.
By hosting such impactful visits, we are contributing to the global dialogue on digital transformation. It’s clear that Rwanda is becoming an exciting hub for digital innovation, and through these engagements, it becomes evident that the country is on the path toward a future that is both digitally advanced and resilient.
